Which hospitals in Massachusetts are doing heart, lung and liver transplants?
Heart transplants are performed by the Boston Center for Heart Transplantation which is composed of Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, New England Medical Center, University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center and Children's Hospital. Lung transplants are performed by the Massachusetts Center for Lung Transplants which is composed of Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and Children's Hospital. Liver transplants are performed by the Boston Center for Liver Transplantation which is composed of Massachusetts General Hospital, New England Medical Center, New England Deaconess, University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center and Children's Hospital.

Where can I get an organ donor card?
An organ donor card and other materials about organ donation can be obtained from the New England Organ Bank located at One Gateway Center in Newton, 617 244 8000. In addition to signing an organ donor card be sure to discuss your wishes with your family.

I am a transplant recipient. Can I get help with rent and utility bills from the Organ Transplant Fund?
No. The Organ Transplant Fund assists only with expenses directly related to a medically necessary organ transplant.

How can I apply for assistance from the Organ Transplant fund?
Ask your social worker at the hospital where your transplant was performed or call the Fund at 617-624-5972 for an application. You will need to provide a copy of your latest Massachusetts Income Tax Return, a letter from the transplant center and proof that your expenses are not covered by either public or private insurance or private philanthropy.

How can I contribute to the Fund?
There are several ways to contribute to the Fund. First, you may make a contribution on the Massachusetts Income Tax Return forms when you file each year. The amount you contribute may be part of a refund or in addition to the taxes you are paying. Second, you may contribute with a check made payable to the Massachusetts Organ Transplant Fund and sent to Joan Gorga, Director of Determination of Need, at 2 Boylston Street, 3 rd Floor,Boston, Massachusetts 02116. Third, the Fund receives memorial contributions each year when the family of a deceased transplant recipient chooses the Fund as their preferred charity for memorials. For memorial contributions please make out the check to the Massachusetts Organ Transplant Fund and include the name of the deceased and, if known, the name and address of the surviving family member to whom the gift should be acknowledged.
