  • Things You Can Do to Protect Your Child From Lead

The most important thing you can do to protect your child from lead poisoning is to find and remove the lead as soon as possible. The longer your child is around lead, the more the lead will hurt their body. Have your home inspected for lead paint. If lead is found it should be covered or removed.
  • Sources of Lead Besides Lead Paint

The main source of lead exposure for children is lead paint, but lead can be found in other items like water and soil.
  • Protect Your Baby Before Birth

Lead can pass from the mother to her unborn child before birth. Very high levels of lead can increase the risk of a miscarriage. It can also cause the baby to be born too small or too early.
