The Radiation Control Program's main office is in the Schrafft Center, a large visible landmark on the Sullivan Square rotary in Charlestown, MA. It is off Interstate 93 (I-93) and accessible by private vehicle or public transportation (see directions, below). On entering the building's Main Entrance, the green stairs or elevators near the rear of the lobby can be taken up one flight to the Mezzanine Level. On facing the front of the building and overlooking the lobby from the Mezzanine, the corridor on the right will lead to our office, which is near the end of this long zig-zag corridor on the right.
From the North
Take Exit 28, Sullivan Square, off I-93 South and follow the ramp to the bottom. Where the ramp splits, take the left hand fork and keep in the leftmost lane. Go through the underpass and approach the large rotary. If you consider this entrance to the rotary to be the 6 o'clock position, you will want to exit at the 12 o'clock position (third outlet) onto Main Street, and the entrance to the Schrafft Center will be immediately on your left.
From the South
Take Exit 28, Sullivan Square, off I-93 North, and follow the ramp to the stoplight at the bottom. Make a right turn and follow the road to the rotary. If you consider this entrance to the rotary to be at the 3 o'clock position, you will want to exit at the 12 o'clock position (second outlet) onto Main Street, and the entrance to the Schrafft Center will be immediately on your left.
Drive through the entry gates and stop at the guardhouse. Explain to the security officer that you are visiting the Radiation Control Program, and depending on your length of stay, they will either direct you to a short-term Visitors' parking area, or give you a pass to park in the Main Lot for a visit that is expected to last longer than one hour.
The Schrafft Center is a short walk from the Sullivan Square T-stop on the Orange Line, and the building owner also offers free shuttle service between the T-stop and the Schrafft Center. The shuttle can be accessed by exiting the station, going down the stairs and through the underpass, and crossing the driveway to the parking lot. A white mini-bus marked "The Schrafft Center Shuttle" or "Curbside Service" arrives every 10 to 15 minutes, and you will be asked to sign a form with your name and company affiliation. The shuttle serves other buildings in the same complex, and the driver will need to know your destination is the Schrafft Center. Drop-off and pick-up is directly in front of the Main Entrance.
The Schrafft Center is very nearby the Main St./Bunker Hill St. stop on MBTA Route 93. Route 93 runs between the Sullivan Square Station and Downtown, via Bunker Hill St. and Haymarket Station.
