The individualized process was developed for the following purposes:
to allow the Department to review the experience and education of applicants with long-term experience in the Massachusetts EI system;
to allow the Department to consider through a panel review process whether an applicant may use his/her long-term experience or EI certification in another state to demonstrate an understanding of the core values and competency areas of the Massachusetts EI system;
to allow an applicant to revise his/her portfolio submission date if applicant is unable to meet the original portfolio submission date due to unforeseen circumstances.
Individualized process requests should be made at least three months before the applicant's portfolio submission date (the portfolio submission date is three years after date of hire, no later than last day of month of hire). Individualized process is not designed to be used when a due date is imminent or past.
Applicants are required to apply formally for the individualized process by contacting the Certification Office.
All applicants will be required to submit the following:
A letter to the Certification Coordinator describing the circumstances surrounding the request. If it is a request to revise the portfolio submission date, applicant must propose a specific new due date;
A completed Self-Evaluation, with signature and date (p. 54, Green Book)
A completed Action Plan (p. 63, Green Book )
Copies of materials must be sent to Susan Breen, Certification Coordinator.
