Re: On-line Nurse Licensure Renewal and Nurse Workforce Survey
We are pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Division of Health Professions Licensure (DHPL) has implemented a new on-line licensing system. Nurses licensed by the Board of Registration in Nursing (Board) can now use our new web site to:
- Renew their licenses, including Advanced Practice authorizations, 24/7 via a secure internet connection, using a credit card or electronic check
- Request and pay for a duplicate license
- Change a license address
Registered Nurses who renew their nursing licenses on-line will complete a survey designed to collect nurse workforce data. The DHPL, in collaboration with the Board, the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Division of Primary Care and Health Access, will use the survey data to study trends in nurse supply and demand. The survey instrument is based on the national Minimum Nurse Supply Dataset, a standardized set of core items to align nurse workforce data collection across the country. Currently, 34 other states collect some portion of the Minimum Dataset.
A similar survey is planned for the 2011-2013 LPN renewal cycle beginning in the Fall 2010.
Please share this information with your constituents. The greater the participation in the on-line survey, the more valuable the data will be for nursing workforce planning and development.
