The horrific and tragic events that occurred during the 117th Boston Marathon, are extremely difficult for many, and call for recognition.
First and foremost, we offer sincere condolences and support to the families of the victims.
The Department of Public Health/Office of Emergency Medical Services wants to express our sincere appreciation for the efforts of the collective EMS community in response to Monday’s incident. The immediate and subsequent response from public and private services alike, as well as numerous volunteers, had a significant impact on the incident. Providers worked diligently, compassionately and cooperatively to ensure that the loss of life was minimized, and that all patients were appropriately triaged, treated and transported.
We would like to thank the many individuals and agencies that participated in the response to Boston. The work that was necessary was difficult, painful and will have a lifelong impact on the many involved in so many different ways.
The EMS community, as always, did what was necessary.
