Kathleen: I remember it was winter, and I'd jump out of bed at 6am and go for a walk. People thought I was crazy. My name is Kathleen Sempos. I started walking when I quit smoking. I smoked for 32 years. Now I feel like I could walk to the next town. I knew I had to quit. I didn't feel 100%. It's hard to stop. The first weeks were tough. I used the patch for the whole 10 weeks. It worked for me. My sister said if I walked 3 times a week for 30 minutes, I wouldn't gain weight. She was right. The patch gave me the power to walk away from cigarettes. I feel proud and happy. I'm the first one in my family to quit. My friends know I'm done. I quit smoking.
