The Primary Care Clinician (PCC) Plan is statewide plan run by MassHealth that uses the MassHealth provider network. Behavioral health services for the PCC are provided by Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP). You must choose a PCC in order to enroll in a PCC Plan. Find a PCC in your area.
You can enroll in the PCC Plan
Important note: If you are a member of the PCC Plan, you can still choose a different PCC or choose to move into an MCO health plan at any time. If you switch into an MCO health plan, you will have Plan Selection and Fixed Enrollment Periods.
Changes to Primary Care Clinician (PCC) Plan Referrals
You may need to see a specialist for certain health problems. As a PCC Plan member, you can see specialists but some may require a referral. A referral is permission to see a specialist. Your PCC will submit a referral to MassHealth if you need to see a specialist.
Starting on October 1, 2016, certain services that did not previously require a referral will need a referral. These changes do not impact the benefits you receive from MassHealth.
New services requiring referral:
- Chiropractic Services
- Orthotic Services
- Prosthetic Services
- Hearing Instrument Specialist Services
- Imaging Services conducted at an Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF)
- Medical Nutrition Therapy/Diabetes Nutrition Management Training
