How did you get into this field?
I became interested in working as a Rehabilitation Counselor during my adolescence. I was diagnosed as being legally blind as a young child and I always knew that I wanted to be able to work professionally with other individuals who were also blind.

Who would you consider to be your mentor and why?
I consider my previous "teacher of the Visually Impaired" to be my mentor. Grace Johnson inspired me throughout my high school education. She encouraged me to see the world not through my eyes but, through my mind and heart. I am the first person in my family to receive a college degree and I contribute that accomplishment to the support and guidance that I received from Grace.

What quote do you live by?
The quote that I try to live by is a quote attributed to Mahatma Gandhi "You must be the change that you want to see in the world".

Can you share an interesting fact about yourself that your colleagues wouldn't necessarily know?
I strive to make a difference in the life of individuals whom I interact with each day. I strongly believe that it is important to be kind to a person who may not always have kindness in their life. Being professional and supportive is a trait that I want to live by.
