Health Safety Net (HSN)
The Health Safety Net (HSN) pays acute care hospitals and community health centers for essential health care services provided to uninsured and underinsured Massachusetts residents.

The "For Providers" section contains hospital and community health center claims, billing and payment, and pharmacy services information; serious reportable events guidelines, the special circumstances application, and frequently asked questions.

The "For Patients" section includes copayment information; health care resources and frequently asked questions; and help line contact information.

The Health Safety Net surcharge percentage for fiscal year 2012 is 1.75 percent. This applies to payments made to hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers for the period from October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012.

HSN reports include annual, quarterly, and utilization reports, as well as other publications.
