DUR ProgramThe Drug Utilization Review (DUR) program was established in accordance with 42 USC 1396r-8. The main goal of the DUR Program is to ensure that prescribed drugs are appropriate, medically necessary, and not likely to result in medication-related problems.
DUR BoardThe DUR Board is comprised of physicians and pharmacists and functions in an advisory capacity to assist MassHealth in the performance of drug utilization review. The DUR Board makes recommendations concerning types of ongoing provider and member interventions and evaluates the results of these interventions. The Board also assists in the development of clinical guidelines to be used in the DUR program. DUR Board Meetings are held quarterly.
DUR Board Meeting Public ForumThe DUR Board meeting generally sets aside up to fifteen minutes for members of the public to address the DUR Board (the maximum time allotted each member of the public is five minutes). For additional information, e-mail DUR_Board@umassmed.edu.
