Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Executive Office of Transportation and Public Works, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, the Executive Office of Health & Human Services, the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, and MassHighway; along with the Departments of Conservation and Recreation and Public Health, this day-long annual statewide bicycling and walking conference will feature twelve workshops covering a range of subjects including the Massachusetts Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board, safety programs such as Safe Routes to School, and trail initiatives.

National Fire Prevention Week will be celebrated October 5-11 in 2008. This year's theme "Prevent Home Fires," focuses on preventing the leading causes of home fires - cooking, heating, electrical and smoking materials.
