Fitchburg Explosion Due to Natural Gas Leak
Yesterday’s explosion at 214 Lunenburg Street in Fitchburg was caused by an accidental natural gas leak from the pipeline. The explosion was investigated by the Fitchburg Fire and Police Departments and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Further details will be released by the Fitchburg Fire Department.
The state Department of Public Utilities assisted with the investigation into the cause of the explosion and is conducting their own investigation into the incident.
