Investigators Seek Public’s Help with Series of Fires near Webster High School

State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey, Webster Fire Chief Brian Hickey and Webster Police Chief Timothy J. Bent are asking for the public’s help with a recent series of small fires near the Bartlett High School in Lake Parkway in Webster.

The fires include:

  • Around 7 p.m. on June 23, in the woods adjacent to the football field;
  • Early in the morning on June 26, near the baseball field;
  • On June 27, two fires were discovered -- one on the basketball court and one on the track.

Chief Hickey said, “All fires start small, but any one has the potential to cause injuries, deaths, and serious property damage.”

State Fire Marshal Ostroskey said, “All of these fires were intentionally set. We ask anyone with information to contact the toll-free Arson Hotline at 1-800-682-9229. All calls are confidential.”

The Arson Hotline is part of the Arson Watch Reward Program that provides rewards of UP TO $5,000 for information that helps to solve arson cases. It is funded by the property and casualty underwriting insurance companies of Massachusetts.
