Massachusetts Firefighting Academy & District Training

Dear Fire Service Professional:

The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, a division of the Department of Fire Services is committed to providing you with the finest fire training programs available. This Web Site contains dates, locations, times and registration information for all regional delivery training programs offered by the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. These courses are listed by program area and location, but all firefighters in the Commonwealth are welcome to enroll regardless of where the classes are being conducted.

In the spring of 2004, we introduced Training on Demand as pilot project and had great success. The concept of this program remains at the forefront offering 150 Hours of training per semester in each region.

The Commonwealth is divided into five (5) training regions as shown below. The core curriculum remains the main objective in programming for each of the five (5) regions. The academy offers the following programs in each of these regions:

  • Saving Ourselves or a RIT program
  • Two Flashover programs
  • Advanced driver program
  • Gas command (six hour classroom program)
  • Instructor methodology program
  • Hazardous materials training

Programming will be based upon Training On Demand requests received from individual departments or coordinators with a lead-time of 60 days. Duplicate requests remain on a lower in order to fulfill as many needs as possible. If you have any requests for training, please contact Amy Baker, Program Scheduler at 978-567-3205 or fax in the request located in our course catalog to 978-567-3229 with your return contact information on it.

You may also obtain course information as well as register for a class on our DFS web site web page for MFA Courses .
