PURPOSE

To provide Call/Volunteer Firefighters with the training that they need to start their careers as well trained, and effective firefighters. These students will get the basic skills needed to be a firefighter and an asset to their department and community.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTENDANCE
Prior to a student's start date at the Academy, Chiefs of departments are required to present evidence of completion of a medical examination for all students, documented on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts HRD Form 7-2005 (Attachment C), pages 1 & 6 only, within 12 months of the start date of student training which they will attend.

The Jones and Bartlett "Fundamentals of Fire Fighter Skills, Second Edition" and the "Fundamentals of Fire Fighter Skills, Second Edition Student Workbook" are REQUIRED TEXTS for students attending the Call/Volunteer program.

These are available to be purchased from the Department of Fire Services.

 

THE NEXT SCHEDULED PRESENTATIONS OF THE CALL/VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER TRAINING PROGRAM WILL BE:
 

Class 046 – Massachusetts Firefighting Academy

Class Begins on Saturday, July 20, 2013 and will run on Tuesday and Thursday Nights and every other Saturday with additional Weekend Days as needed per the schedule.

 

Class 047 - Essex County

Class Begins on Saturday, July 27, 2013 and will run on Monday and Wednesday Nights and every other Saturday with additional Weekend Days as needed per the schedule.  

 

These classes are open to all Call/Volunteer Firefighters in the Commonwealth. The return date of the student application and completion of all paperwork will determine selection to this program.

ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON JUNE 7, 2013.
