Emergency Medical Services Training

The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, long a leader in fire training and education for the Commonwealth's Fire Service, has recently expanded its role to include Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Training. Most Emergency Medical Technician Continuing Education courses are approved for OEMS credit. Contact the Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services for more information.

Who:

All of our instructors are experienced fire service professionals who are required to maintain a high level of proficiency and are Massachusetts Fire Training Council Certified. In addition, we enlist knowledgeable Guest Lecturers who are experts in their field, to present various subjects.

What:

We offer a variety of continuing education, certification and refresher training course. EMT Basic Refresher and First Responder Training are available as Municipal Hire courses. The full list of EMS courses is included in training track suggestions.

Where:

Classes are conveniently located at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy in Stow, MA or can be scheduled at a facility of your choice.

Courses can be tailored for your convenience. In addition, our speakers are highly motivated individuals who deliver premium quality training programs with a human touch, knowing what Fire Service Professionals will encounter in the field.

When:

Weekdays, weekend and evening courses are available.

How:

Look for EMS offerings in the DFS Course Catalog or you may request a Municipal Hire for your department. To request a municipal hire, submit a letter from the Chief of the Department to Kate D'Amelio, Administration Coordinator, with your request indicating:

- program you would like presented
- a general idea of when you would like the program held (month)
- number of students
- time frames requested (day, evening, weekend)
- multi-day programs provide the requested breakdown (2 four-hour evenings, consecutive Tuesdays, etc.)

Once your request is received and processed, you will receive a contract for your review. If you agree to the terms of the contract, it needs to be signed and returned. Then you will be contacted regarding scheduling the program.
