Parking Update: March 11, 2008

Just a reminder that parking will be very tight tomorrow (Wed.) and Thurs. Please park as close as possible to other vehicles to allow the maximum number of parking spaces in the available areas (see yesterday's email).

In the event that you cannot find parking when you arrive, please stop by, or call, the main reception area in the Academy Building (you can temporarily double park in the traffic circle) and arrangements can be made for you to park in the DFS remote parking area. If needed, DFS will have a shuttle available from mid-morning to 3:30 pm. Usually, additional parking opens up later in the day when recruits leave, so cars can be moved from the remote parking area to the main DFS site at that time.

Again, thank you for your patience and cooperation during construction.

Yesterday's DFS Email Broadcast. . . .

This Wednesday, March 12, the move and installation of the trailers will begin and on-site parking will be very tight.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO PARKING along the entire front row of the parking lot along State Rd., Wed. Mar. 12 through Friday, Mar. 14. Because Trailer 501/502 will be moved on Wed., there will be no parking in front of Trailer 501/502 as well as in front of Jake's, facing the drill yard. Consigli Construction will begin marking off the restricted areas on Tuesday night.

The gas school will not be available for parking this Wed. and Thurs. because the school will be operational.

Parking will be available these days in the following areas:

  • The side of the Academy building towards the new remote parking area (good news: no time restriction) ;
  • The traffic circle;
  • The area between the traffic circle and the pump house, along the front lawn;
  • The road up to the gas school
  • In front of Building 2, and near the back entrance to the Academy Building. If you parking next to Building 2 or the Academy Building on Wed., please park as close to the building as possible.

Please be aware that your car may be blocked in for a short time when Trailer 501/502 (possibly around noon time) or when the other four trailers are being moved into position. Construction crews will keep traffic moving around the work as best they can, but there may be unplanned delays.

Thank you, again, for your patience and cooperation.
