April 9, 2015 – YouTube™ High School Burn Awareness Video Contest Awards
The winners of the 2013-14 YouTube™ High School Burn Awareness Video Contest will be announced (and shown) at a ceremony on April 9, 2015 at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston at 10:00 a.m. This event was rescheduled from Feb. 12 due to weather.

May 1, 2015 – Open Burning Season Ends
The last day for open burning is May 1, 2015. It’s best to complete spring burning while there’s still snow on the ground and at least as early as possible. Changing weather conditions might prohibit permits from being issued in any given day.

May 1-31, 2015 – National Electrical Safety Month
May is national Electrical Safety Month. Electrical problems with wiring and appliances are leading causes of fires and fire deaths. Learn more about preventing electrical fires.

May 19, 2015 – Senior Fire Officer Forum: Green Buildings, The Fire Service Challenge
As new regulations and consumers push homebuilding and commercial construction to utilize green practices whenever possible, the concept of green building standards has as well become increasingly popular. Green buildings are now presenting new and unique challenges to code enforcement and firefighting. Ken Willette, manager of the National Fire Protection Association‘s (NFPA) Public Fire Protection Division, and staff will present this Senior Fire Officer Forum seminar that will explore those challenges and will utilize a case study of a commercial building fire in which green construction features created some unique challenges for firefighters. The presentation will be held at the Department of Fire Services – Stow Campus. Course Fee: $20.00. Check or money order made out to "MFA Trust Fund." Please note:  Applications must include payment. Walk-ins will not be allowed. Lunch will be provided. Pre-registration is required using the standard MFA application links to PDF file.

May 26, 2015 - Senior Fire Officer Forum: Highly Reliable Organization - Rescheduled from March 17
Nationally recognized speaker Gordon Graham will present a 7-hour program on the concept of Creating the Highly Reliable Organization. He will cover how to identify the true cause of tragedies that plague our profession by focusing on the concept that a predictable event is a preventable event. Mr. Graham will provide attendees with a number of ways to achieve the goal of reducing accidents and injuries through an effective program of organizational risk management. The presentation will be held at the Devens Commons Center, 31 Andrews Parkway, Devens, MA. Course Fee: $20.00. Lunch will be provided. Pre-registration is required using the standard MFA application.
