March 8, 2015- Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery
On March 9, 2015, remember when you change your clock to change the batteries in your smoke alarms, unless they have a 10-year lithium battery. March 15-21, 2015 - Poison and Inhalant Abuse Prevention Week
March 15-21, 2015 is Poison and Inhalant Abuse Prevention Week. Firefighters respond to all types of poisonings from carbon monoxide poisoning, accidental and intentional overdoses, children accessing medicines and household chemicals and youth who abuse inhalants. Many substances involved in inhalant abuse are also major fire hazards. Nearly 40% of those who die from inhalant abuse were first time users. March 17, 2015 –Senior Fire Officer Forum: Highly Reliable Organization
On March 17, 2015, nationally recognized speaker Gordon Graham will present a 7-hour program (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) on the concept of creating the highly reliable organization. The program will cover how to identify the true cause of tragedies that plague our profession by focusing on the concept that a predictable event is a preventable event. Mr. Graham will provide attendees with a number of ways to achieve the goal of reducing accidents and injuries through an effective program of organizational risk management. The presentation will be held at the Devens Commons Center, 31 Andrews Parkway, Devens, MA. Course Fee: $20.00. Check or money order made out to "MFA Trust Fund."
