March 9, 2014- Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery
On March 9, 2014, remember when you change your clock to change the batteries in your smoke alarms, unless they have a 10-year lithium battery. March 16-22, 2014 - Poison and Inhalant Abuse Prevention Week
March 16-22, 2014 is Poison and Inhalant Abuse Prevention Week. Firefighters respond to all types of poisonings from carbon monoxide poisoning, accidental and intentional overdoses, children accessing medicines and household chemicals and youth who abuse inhalants. Many substances involved in inhalant abuse are also major fire hazards. Nearly 40% of those who die from inhalant abuse were first time users. It is important to talk to middle school aged children about inhalants. For more information, contact www.mass.gov/dph/inhalant (state) or www.inhalants.org (national). March 20 2014 – YouTube™ High School Burn Awareness Video Contest Awards
The winners of the 2013-14 YouTube™ High School Burn Awareness Video Contest will be announced (and shown) at ceremony on March 20, 2014 (rescheduled from February 14, 2014 due to snow) at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston at 10:00 a.m.

The graduation ceremony for Recruit Class #209 will take place on March 21, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at the Department of Fire Services, 1 State Road, Stow, MA.
March 28, 2014 – Official Launch of Senior SAFE Program
State Rep. Kate Hogan, Elder Affairs Secretary Ann Hartstein, State Fire Marshal Coan and local fire and council on aging officials will officially launch the new Senior SAFE at the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church Street, on March 28, 2014. This is the first year of the Senior SAF E grant program to improve the fire and life safety of older adults who are most at-risk of dying in a fire.
April 2-3, 2014 – Propane Industry Responders Conference file size 5MB
On April 2 & 3, 2014 the Mass. Firefighting Academy will be hosting a 2-day Propane Industry Responders Conference co-sponsored by PERC (Propane Education and Research Council) and PGANE
(Propane Gas Association of New England). The conference will be held in the link and will include classroom discussions and field demonstrations on both days.
