May 1-31, 2012 – Fire Safety Topic of the Month - National Electrical Safety Month - May

May 6-12, 2012 – Arson Awareness Week   
 

Arson Awareness Week is May 6-12, 2012 and this year’s theme is Prevent Youth Firesetting will focus public attention on the importance of a collaborative effort with fire and emergency service departments, law enforcement, mental health, social services, schools, and juvenile justice to help reduce the occurrence of juveniles engaged with fire.

May 10-11- 6th Annual Northeast Juvenile Firesetting Conference, Strengthening Our Homes: From Incident to Outcome
The 6th annual Northeast Juvenile Firesetting Conference will be held on May 10-11, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Natick, MA. May 21, 2012 – S.A.F.E. Program Spring In-Service – DFS, Stow
The Department of Fire Services Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E.) Program will be holding four regional in-services from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The morning session will include training on how to borrow and use training tools from DFS such as the Hazard House; Cooking Prop; Jr. Fire Gear or Sparky costume; how easy it is to nominate a child to be a S.A.F.E. Young Hero; join the List Serve; or to acquire one of our many informational handouts or select a video from our library. The afternoon will include training on how to use the new 6th grade evaluation tool.

May 30 – June 1, 2012 – MA Chapter IAAI Annual June Seminar: Juvenile Fire Setting. Pathways: Investigation to Intervention.
The Massachusetts Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) will be holding its annual June seminar from May 30-June 1, 2012 at The Sea Crest Beach Hotel, in Falmouth, MA. June 16-17, 2012 – Massachusetts State Weekend at the National Fire Academy

The Massachusetts state weekend at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD will be June 16-17, 2012. Application deadline is May 11, 2012.
