State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan Offers Condolences to Davies Family
State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan and the staff at the Department of Fire Services offer their deepest condolences to the family of Peabody FF James Rice and to the members of the Peabody Fire Department. Our thoughts also go out to the Methuen Fire Department and the family of FF Robert George, an active firefighter who also died this past week. These sad losses occurred while we were all still mourning the loss of Worcester FF Jon Davies. This has been a difficult month for the Massachusetts fire service.

Our thoughts are also go out to FF Brian Carroll, who was injured in this fire, and to his family. The death or serious injury of family member, friend or colleague is tragic. Firefighting is an inherently dangerous job but we are never prepared for the shock and anguish when the ultimate sacrifice is made.
