Many Department of Fire Services courses have been approved by the Department of Public Health’s Office of Emergency Management Services (OEMS) for continuing education credits for emergency medical technicians (EMTs). We are in the process of submitting additional courses for approval and will update the list as those approvals are received.
OEMS requires that students retain certificates or attendance rosters signed by student & instructor as proof of attendance. They also require that MFA retain these records for seven (7) years.
DFS is moving to a new Learning Management System (LMS) that will help to automate this process, but in the meantime, for any course that has approved OEMS ConEd hours taken after April 1, 2016, the roster will be emailed to students by the Mass. Firefighting Academy registration staff.
