to host 13th Annual Prison Media Days

Milford (September 13, 2004)-The Massachusetts Department of Correction will being its 13th year of hosting Prison Media Days with tours of the following facilities:

Sept. 17, 9:30am-MCI Plymouth, Myles Standish Forest, South Carver

Sept. 17, 1:30pm-Mass. Treatment Center for the Sexually Dangerous, Bridgewater

"I encourage the media to see firsthand the day to day operations of our facilities," said Kathleen M. Dennehy, Commissioner of the Mass. Department of Correction. Each of the DOC's 17 facilities is operationally unique in its inmate population, security level and program offerings.

Tours of MCI Plymouth and the Mass. Treatment Center for the Sexually Dangerous will be followed by tours of the other 15 facilities over the next few months into 2005. Facility tours will allow media the opportunity to gather file footage and photographs for future use. Information packages will be available.

Attendance at a DOC Media Day must be confirmed three days in advance. Proper dress and ID are required.

Sept. 17 attendees must confirm by Tuesday, Sept. 14, noon, by calling Diane Wiffin, (508) 422-3317 and providing full name and date of birth.
