CORRECTION PROFESSIONALS WILL BE HONORED AT AWARDS CEREMONY

Milford (May 25, 2012)—Secretary of the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) Mary Elizabeth Heffernan, EOPSS Undersecretary for Criminal Justice Sandra M. McCroom, and Department of Correction Commissioner Luis S. Spencer as well as County Sheriffs and other elected officials will recognize correctional employees for their bravery and dedication to public service at the 2012 Correctional Employees of the Year 15th Annual Awards.

BACKGROUND

Each year the state’s 14 sheriffs and the Massachusetts Commissioner of Correction nominate exemplary employees for the prestigious award.  A selection committee comprised of leaders from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, the Massachusetts Department of Correction, the Massachusetts Sheriffs’ Association, the Massachusetts Correction Officer Federated Union and the offices of Senator James E. Timilty and Rep. Harold P. Naughton Jr. decides which employees will be honored.
