MCI Cedar Junction dedication to be held on September 30, 2010

Milford (September 14, 2010) -- On September 30, 2010 at 10am, Massachusetts Department of Correction Commissioner Harold W. Clarke will dedicate a monument to all staff, both past and present who have served the Commonwealth and the Department at MCI Cedar Junction. The inscription reads "Dedicated to all the men and women who have devoted their careers to public service behind these walls." MCI Cedar Junction Walpole Est. 1955.

Over the last several years an effort has been made to beautify the entrance of MCI Cedar Junction. Trees have been planted along the road way, flowers and shrubs have been added in front of the Administration Building.

The focal point in this beautification effort has been the circle at the head of the driveway. The circle has been transformed into a tranquil garden. In the middle of the garden a monument has been placed. This monument is being dedicated by Commissioner Harold W. Clarke in a ceremony at the prison. Past employees are invited to share this celebration with the current staff.

Once a maximum security prison, MCI Cedar Junction is now also the male reception center for the Department.
