Earthquakes happen in Massachusetts. According to the Seismic Hazard Maps from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Massachusetts has a medium risk of earthquakes, so it’s  important that residents know how to be safe when the earth shakes.

Massachusetts began participating in the Great NorthEast Shakeout drill in 2013. The Weston Lego League created this informative video:

Since 2013, MEMA has continued to encourage communities, schools, and businesses to participate in the annual Great NorthEast ShakeOut Earthquake Drills. Many communities and organizations also use this drill to practice and test other aspects of their emergency plans (notifications, communications, evacuation, etc.).
