In the wake of Super-Typhoon Haiyan which plowed into the Philippines on November 8th, 2013 international humanitarian and disaster relief organizations are working to meet the needs of the Philippine's government as it deals with a trail of devastation on a scale that has never been seen before.  Haiyan was an unprecedented storm; with its sustained winds of 195 MPH it was the strongest tropical cyclone to hit land anywhere in the world in recorded history.  Estimates are that thousands of people were killed by Haiyan, more than one hundred thousand people are being cared for in shelters and evacuation centers, and that hundreds of thousands of buildings were destroyed.

Your help is needed to meet the needs of the Philippine's government and relief organizations in providing food, water, shelter, medicine, clothes and other urgent supplies to the survivors of Super-Typhoon Haiyan.  The best way to provide assistance is to donate money to a reputable relief organization that is providing direct assistance to the Philippines.  Donating money is preferable to donating goods.

How to Donate:  There are many reputable relief organizations providing assistance to the Philippines.  If you would like to donate to a relief organization, visit www.interaction.org.  InterAction is an alliance organization comprised of more than 180 non-governmental organizations (NGO's) working around the world.  Donations via cellular phones made be made through the mGive Foundation at https://mgive.org/Donations/Philippines-Typhoon-Donations.
