Operation FLASH ( Fellow Law-enforcement Agencies Securing the Homeland) was a collaborative effort between various federal, state and local agencies to apprehend fugitive criminal aliens who were ordered removed by a Federal Immigration Judge but had failed to comply.
Members of the State Police Compliance Unit have been assisting I.C.E. for the past four years with various investigations, some of which extend beyond Massachusetts.
The State Police Compliance Unit's participation in Operation FLASH was a critical component leading to the successful apprehension and arrest of one-hundred and eighty-nine fugitives throughout New England. Many of the fugitives arrested had previously been convicted of violent crimes. Some of the violent crimes included arson, rape of a child, threatening murder, armed robbery, intimidating witnesses and assault and battery on a police officer. In conclusion, the State Police will continue to partner with other agencies at the federal, state and local level to make Massachusetts safer.
