The Massachusetts State Police ranked Second in Overall Finish and First within the Large Department Division in this year's Massachusetts Law Enforcement Challenge sponsored by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety, the Governor's Highway Safety Bureau and the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police.

As a winner of the statewide competition of traffic safety programs and performance, the Massachusetts State Police submission was entered into the National Law Enforcement Challenge sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). The IACP awarded the Massachusetts State Police Department Third Place in the State Police/Highway Patrol Agencies with 1601 to 3,000 Officers category of this year's national Challenge. Colonel Thomas Robbins, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, and Lieutenant Steve McCarthy of the Traffic Programs Section received the award at the IACP Annual Conference in September.
