On Friday, Feb 10, Tpr. DaCosta from the Troop D Community Action Team arrested a man in New Bedford on weapon and drug charges. A loaded S&W 9mm handgun, $2,718 cash, and 15 bags appearing to be marijuana were recovered. -

On Feb 8, 2006, a narcotics investigation in conjunction the DEA, led State Police assigned to the Essex County District Attorney's Office stopped a 1998 Volvo on Melena Cass Boulevard in Boston resulting in the seizure of 20 kilos of cocaine and $20,000 in cash. -
Outstanding Drug Seizure and Arrest by Trooper Brian Sweet of SP Medford
On Feb 21, 2006, at about 11:45 p.m., Tpr. Brian Sweet (Medford Barracks) stopped a 1997 Cadillac Deville for a mv violation on Route 93. During the stop, Tpr. Sweet recovered: approximately a pound of material believed to be "psilocybin" mushrooms; a plastic bag containing a substance believed to be marijuana; and more.

Since 1987, MSP officers have been issued semi-automatic weapons from Sig Sauer. All officers have familiarity with this weapon system and they have adopted the same weapon handling skills.
