From Friday night, 02/24/2006, through Sunday night, 02/26/2006, State Police seized three guns from three separate motor vehicle stops on the streets of Boston.
The first seizure took place Friday night at about 7:50 p.m. when Trooper John Carnell and Trooper Daniel O'Neil stopped a 1990 Mercury Topaz on Centre Street. During the course of their investigation, they discovered a loaded Ruger P85 9mm handgun inside the vehicle. They subsequently arrested the driver for the following offenses: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and having Defective Equipment. Two juvenile passengers were also arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.
On Sunday at about 10:30 a.m., Trooper William Cameron and Trooper Joseph Gray stopped a 1991 Honda Civic on Harvard Street. During the course of their investigation, they discovered a loaded Raven .25 caliber handgun inside the vehicle. They subsequently arrested the driver for the following offenses: 2 Counts of Carrying a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm and Knife), Possessing a Firearm without an FID Card, Defacing a Firearms Serial Number, Operating After Suspension, Failure to Signal, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt and Speeding. Two passengers were both charged with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm), Possessing a Firearm without an FID Card and Defacing a Firearm's Serial Numbers. Additionally, Bailey had two outstanding warrants out of Quincy District Court.
On Sunday night at about 9:45 p.m., Trooper Brian Dunn stopped a 1999 Honda Accord on Morrissey Boulevard. During the course of his investigation, he discovered that a passenger in the vehicle was in possession of a loaded .380 caliber handgun. The passenger was placed under arrest for Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm), Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Defacing a Firearm's Serial Number, and Trespassing. The driver was arrested for Possession of a Class D Substance and Trespassing. Two other passengers in the vehicle were both arrested for Trespassing.
