Springfield Barracks

On Thursday, February 8, 2006 at about 11:30 a.m., Trooper Christopher Sanchez of the State Police Springfield Barracks arrested Roland Kaplan, age 45 of Provincetown, Massachusetts at the Hampton Inn in Chicopee, Massachusetts on a warrant issued earlier in the day out of Orleans District Court for the charge of kidnapping a minor by a relative .

Earlier that morning, Trooper Brian Sullivan of the State Police Yarmouth Barracks developed investigative information which led investigators directly to the area of the Hampton Inn in Chicopee. Sergeant Bruce Hiorns of the State Police Canine Section then located the car that Roland Kaplan was believed to have been driving when the alleged kidnapping incident occurred yesterday in Truro, Massachusetts. Both Roland Kaplan and the minor child were located by members of the State Police inside the Hampton Inn. The child was uninjured. Members of the Truro Police Department and the Chicopee Police Department assisted the State Police with this investigation. Roland Kaplan was transported to the State Police Springfield Barracks for booking prior to being transported to Chicopee District Court for arraignment.
