On Sunday, March 19, 2006, at about 3:00 p.m. State Police from the Athol Barracks arrested four males on Route 2 in Orange.

Trooper Brian Bonia stopped a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier for Failing to Use a Directional Signal and Defective Equipment. This motor vehicle stop became anything other than routine. During interaction with the operator identified as Sean McGrath, Tpr. Bonia "following his nose" and observed a very strong odor of Marijuana inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed approx. 3 pounds of green leafy matter believed to be Marijuana located inside the vehicle. Tprs. Brian Frechette, James Huchowski and Kevin Haley assisted in the arrest and investigation.

The suspects were arrested, transported to the Athol Barracks and identified as:

Sean McGrath 21-years of age 75 St. Alphonsus Street, Boston, MA
Joshua McGrath 19-years of age 369 Petersham Road, New Salem, MA
Kyle Sykes 22 years of age 290 Corey Road, Brighton, MA
Matthew Hansen 18-yeas of age 60 Daniel Shays Highway , Orange, MA

All four subjects were charged with Possession of Class D Marijuana and Possession of Class D Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. All four subjects were arraigned Monday, March 20, 2006 in Orange District Court. The investigation into this matter is ongoing and preliminary information revealed these narcotics were earmarked for distribution at two Massachusetts college campuses.
