Emma Rose Cross receives plaque from Tpr. Nicole Morrell

On May 21, 2007, Massachusetts Child AMBER Alert Coordinator Tpr Nicole Morrell awarded Emma Rose Cross, age 10, from the Donald E. Ross School in Braintree, MA with a plaque during the annual Missing Children's Day Ceremony celebrated at the State House. This year, for the first time, the Massachusetts Child AMBER Alert Program in association with the Department of Education participated in a national poster contest. The contest was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's Child Protection Division in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The contest was a statewide effort to help educate our children about safety issues and highlight the efforts made in reuniting our children with their families. Fifth grade students were given an opportunity to create an 11x14 poster about "Bringing our Missing Children Home" and write a 100 word essay depicting the piece and the artist. Eight classes from various schools throughout the Commonwealth participated in the contest and approximately 250 students submitted entries.
