Massachusetts State Police First place in the National Law Enforcement Challenge

On October 6, 2009, the International Association of Chiefs of Police awarded the Massachusetts State Police 1st place in the National Law Enforcement Challenge for state police agencies with 1,001-2,500 sworn members. The IACP Law Enforcement Challenge is a competition between similar size and types of law enforcement agencies that recognizes and rewards the best overall traffic safety programs in the United States and Canada. The program is designed to strengthen and support traffic enforcement nationwide, targeting three major traffic safety priorities, specifically, occupant protection; impaired driving; and speeding. Participating agencies provide an extensive publication highlighting their agency's efforts and effectiveness in areas of officer training, public information, and enforcement to reduce crashes and injuries. The award was presented at the annual IACP Conference in Denver, Colorado.
