Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Gun Arrest
Today at 4:20 p.m., Trooper Stephen Candito was in the vicinity of Belmont and Ash Street in the City of Brockton when he utilized his cruiser laptop to query a plate on a 2000 Volvo S80. The query results indicated the owner had an outstanding default warrant out of the Plymouth District Court. Trooper Candito initiated a motor vehicle stop and placed the driver, SEAN SULLIVAN, 34, of Hyde Park under arrest for the warrant.
While performing a frisk of the driver, the trooper located a 40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun in his waistband. The weapon was fully loaded. The driver was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and carrying a firearm with ammunition.
SULLIVAN was transported to the State Police Barracks in Middleboro where he was booked. He is due in Brockton District Court tomorrow morning.
