Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Alben, Division Commander The Division of Field Services has been providing an array of police services to Massachusetts since 1921. Not only is Field Services one of the oldest divisions it is also the largest division within the State Police, more than 1500 uniformed troopers proudly serve our citizens.Throughout the history of the Massachusetts State Police, officers have provided an unsurpassed level of professionalism to the communities they serve. It is this level of professionalism which continues to reinforce public trust, confidence, and the degree of respect held for the officers of the Massachusetts State Police. In order to assist our troopers and other police agencies in the state, Field Services has developed a number of units that provide a wide range of support services. These highly trained professionals offer a wide range of capabilities. Some of these capabilities include: aviation, marine patrol, horses, canines and crisis response.
