State Police Respond to Rollover Crash on Route 93 in Braintree
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Eugene Lawrence indicates that 36-year-old Janet Rivera of New Bedford was traveling on Route 93 North in a Ford Explorer with five passengers. As she approached the Route 3 South split, she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to rollover and crash in the median between the ramps to Route 3 South and Route 3 North.
Rivera, who was unbelted at the time of the crash and ejected from the vehicle, was transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. A female passenger in that vehicle, 31-year-old Elizabeth Rivera of New Bedford, who was also unbelted at the time of the crash and partially ejected, was transported by ambulance to South Shore Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A male passenger in that vehicle, 18-year-old Jose Rivera of New Bedford, who was also unbelted and partially ejected during the crash, was transported by ambulance to Quincy Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. A 14-year-old female passenger was transported to Quincy Medical for treatment of minor injuries. A 12-year-old female and a 9-year-old female were transported to South Shore Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. All juveniles were belted at the time of the crash.
The cause of this crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. Braintree Police, Fire and EMS, Quincy Police, Fire and EMS, Fallon Ambulance and Boston EMS all assisted at the scene.
The left travel lane from Route 93 North to Route 3 South was closed for about 20 minutes.
