State Police Investigate Route 112 Crash in Buckland

On December 7, 2006, at about 6:45 a.m., State Police from the Shelburne Falls Barracks responded to a three-vehicle crash on Route 112 South, near the Mohawk Regional High School, in Buckland.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper William Medina indicates that a collision occurred between a 1998 Toyota pickup, a 1991 Toyota pickup and a 2000 Dodge Ram on Route 112 South, which appears to have been caused by icy conditions on the roadway.

The driver of the 1998 Toyota, 34-year-old Matthew Leger of Buckland, who was unbelted at the time of the crash, was transported by ambulance to Franklin County Medical Center and then airlifted to Baystate Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the 1991 Toyota, 38-year-old Kerri Deleo of Buckland, was transported to Franklin County Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the Dodge, 18-year-old Mark Overton-Giguere of Shelburne Falls, was uninjured in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. No charges have been filed at this time. State Police Crime Scene Services, Shelburne Fire and EMS and Mass Highway all assisted at the scene.

Route 112 South was closed for about three hours.
