State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 2 in Concord
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Derek Baran indicates the following: a 2006 Toyota Camry sedan operated by 52-year-old Ellen S. Gamboa of Concord, was struck while crossing Route 2 on Baker Street by a 1999 Sterling dump truck traveling on Route 2 eastbound, operated by 29-year-old Jason M. Gaumont of Marlborough. Gaumont was taken by ambulance to Emerson Hospital with minor injuries. Gamboa suffered serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Gaumont was issued a summons for
- Speeding;
- Failure to Stop for a Red Light; and
- Motor Vehicle Homicide.
The cause of this crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision, Analysis, and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section. Troopers were also assisted at the scene by the Concord Police Department, the Concord Fire Department, and the Mass Highway Department.
Route 2 was shutdown for approximately 2 ½ hours except for one lane on Route 2 westbound which remained open.
