State Police Respond to Fatal Crash Route 24 Fall River

At about 6:40 a.m. this morning, State Police from the Dartmouth Barracks responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 24 South, north of Exit 5 in Fall River.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper John Lema indicates that Marie Laforce, age 59, of Fall River was operating a 1998 Ford Explorer on Route 24 South, just north of President Ave. (exit 5) in Fall River. She was traveling in the right travel lane when she swerved into the breakdown lane and off the roadway. The vehicle rolled over onto the driver side and struck a tree. Maria Laforce and her passenger, Norman Laforce, age 60, of Fall River were trapped in the vehicle.

Norman Laforce was pronounced deceased at the scene. Marie Laforce was Med-Flight to Brigham and Woman's Hospital with serious injuries.

Fall River Fire Department, Mass Highway, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and State Police Crime Scene Service Section assisted troopers at the scene.

Route 24 South remained closed for approximately 3 hours.
