State Police Respond to Fatal Crash Route 1 Foxboro

On Wednesday December 27, 2006 at 4:50 p.m. State Police from the Foxboro Barracks responded to a three vehicle crash on Route 1 North in Foxboro.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Michael Connolly indicates the following: Kelley Soucy, age 32, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, operating a Ford Pick-Up was on Route 1 North in Foxboro. She was stopped in the left lane waiting to turn across the southbound lanes into the Rodman Collision parking lot. A 1999 Chevrolet Van operated by John Lomasney Jr., age 25, of Plainville was traveling in the left lane on Route 1 South. His vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane and struck the Ford head on. The collision caused the Ford Pick-Up to spin into the right lane resulting in a collision with a 2003 Hyundai Sedan being operated by Michael Leonard, age 52, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, who was traveling in the left lane on Route 1 North. He had turned into the right lane in an attempt to avoid the collision.

Leonard suffered serious injuries and was transported to Norwood Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Soucy and Lomasney suffered minor injuries and were transported to Sturdy Hospital.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Detective Unit for Norfolk County, and State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

Foxboro Fire Department, Foxboro Police Department and Mass Highway assisted troopers at the scene.

Route 1 north was closed for 2 hours.
