State Police Arrest Motorcyclist After Pursuit in Mansfield

On September 29, 2006 at about 6:55 p.m., State Police arrested a Watertown man who fled from State Police on a Motorcycle in Mansfield.

Trooper Michael Cherven of the State Police Community Action attempted to stop the rider of a 1997 Ducati motorcycle on the ramp from Route 495 South to Route 140 North for speeding. The rider refused to stop and a pursuit ensued onto Route 106, into Easton and Norton, and then back into Mansfield on East Street, where the operator abandoned his motorcycle and fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the rider, 25-year-old Eric P. Tolley of 499 Main Street in Watertown, was apprehended and charged with the following: Failure to Stop for a Police Officer; Negligent Operation; Operating After Revocation for being a Habitual Traffic Offender; Speeding; Concealing a Number Plate; Operating an Unregistered and Uninsured Motorcycle and Resisting Arrest.

Tolley will be arraigned on Monday in Attleboro District Court. Mansfield and Norton Police assisted in this investigation.
