State Police Respond to a Serious Crash at 224 the Arbor Way in Mattapan
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Kathleen Carney indicates a juvenile male was operating a 2005 Dodge Neon, inbound on the Arbor Way. The juvenile lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the median. Panupong Chaipipakorn a 24-year-old male from Quincy was traveling outbound in a 2003 Mercedes-Benz, C240. The Mercedes-Benz collided into the passenger's side of the Dodge after the Dodge crossed the median. The juvenile male suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a Boston area Hospital. Chaipipakorn suffered minor injures in the crash and was transported to Falkner Hospital in W. Roxbury.
The cause of this crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. Chaipipakorn was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, but it is unknown if the juvenile male was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and Boston Emergency Medical Services assisted troopers at the scene. Both lanes of the Arbor Way were shut down outbound for approximately 1/2 hour, and the right travel lane remains closed due to the investigation.
The Juvenile's age and town of residence are being withheld pending proper notification. This is all the information available for public disclosure at this time. Please do not contact the barracks directly for information.
