State Police Investigate Pedestrian Struck in Medford

On October 26, 2006, at about 9:30 a.m., State Police from the Medford Barracks responded to a crash involving a car and a pedestrian, on the Salem Street Rotary in Medford.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Eric Mitza indicates that 78-year-old Nora Boisvert of Medford was crossing the on-ramp from the Salem Street rotary to Route 93 South in a cross walk when she was struck by a 2006 Honda Accord, operated by 53-year-old Paulo Lopes of Revere.

Boisvert was transported by ambulance to Mass General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Lopes was uninjured in the crash.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. No charges have been filed at this time. State Police Crime Scene Services, and Medford Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

The Salem Street Rotary was closed for about 15 minutes. The ramp from the Salem Street Rotary to Route 93 South was closed for more than 1 hour.
