State Police investigate Serious Crash on Route 495 North in Middleboro

Yesterday, Friday September 1, 2006 at about 7:10 p.m. State Police personnel assigned to the Middleboro Barracks responded to a one-car crash on Route 495 north bound south of exit 4 in Middleboro that resulted in serious injuries.

The preliminary investigation by Trooper Joseph Baker indicates that Tiffany T. Le a 27-year old female from Randolph, Ma, was operating a 2002 Jeep Grande Cherokee on Route 495 north when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle traveled into center median of the roadway, and then back onto Route 495 north where the vehicle rolled several times and came to rest in the center median on its driver's side. Le was wearing her seatbelt but she was partially ejected. Le sustained serious injuries and was transported to Boston Medical Center (BMC) by Med-Flight. Hieu Chi Do a 29- year old male from Randolph was a passenger in the vehicle and also sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Morton Hospital by Middleboro's ambulance.

Members of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the Middleboro Fire Department, and the Massachusetts Highway Department assisted troopers at the scene. The left travel lane was closed at the time of the crash, and remained closed for about 2 Hours. All north bound lanes were closed for about 15-20 minutes when Med-Flight landed and transported the operator.

Although speed appears to be a factor, the cause of this crash remains under investigation by members of the State Police and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.

No further information is currently available. Please do not contact the barracks directly.
