State Police Respond to Route 18 Middleboro Crash

On September 17, 2006 at about 1:10 a.m., State Police responded to a crash involving a motor cycle and a truck on Route 18 South, about ½ mile north of the Middleboro rotary, in Middleboro.

Preliminary investigation by Sergeant Stephen Earle indicates that Bridgewater Police attempted to stop a 2005 Yamaha RL motorcycle on Route 18 in Bridgewater. The rider refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. Bridgewater Police subsequently lost sight of the motorcycle. Some time later, police came upon the wreckage of a collision between the aforementioned motorcycle and a Peterbilt tractor on Route 18 in Middleboro. Investigators believe that the motorcycle struck the tractor as it pulled out onto Route 18 North from Leona Drive. The rider, 22-year-old Eric L. Huskins of Raynham was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the tractor was uninjured in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services and State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. Middleboro and Bridgewater Police and Middleboro Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

Route 18 was closed in both directions for about 4 hours.
