State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Amherst Road in Pelham

On October 22, 2006, at about 4:00 a.m., State Police from the Belchertown Barracks responded to a one-car crash on Amherst Road, near residential address #63, in Pelham.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper William Kokocinski indicates that 22-year-old Bradley N. Skikne of Middleton was traveling westbound on Amherst Road in a 2004 Toyota Matrix when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to travel off the right side of the road and up an embankment before rolling back into the roadway. Skikne, who was unbelted at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle.

Skikne was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. State Police Crime Scene Services and Pelham Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

Amherst Road was closed in this area for about 4 hours.
