State Police Investigate Vehicle Struck by Pumpkin Thrown From Overpass

On October 5, 2006, at about 12:05 a.m. State Police responded to Route 2 in Phillipston to investigate a vehicle being struck by a pumpkin thrown from the Highland Street overpass.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper David Fleming indicates that a 1996 Ford Escort being operated by Lilli Carroll, age 52, of Athol, was traveling Route 2 West in Phillipston. Her vehicle was struck in the windshield by a pumpkin which was thrown from the Highland Street overpass. Ms. Carroll sustained minor injuries from the incident and was taken to Athol Memorial Hospital.

Phillipston Police Department and State Police searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects. The incident remains under investigation.
