State Police Respond to 5 Car Crash on Route 24 in Raynham

On September 29, 2006 at about 4:55 p.m., State Police from the Middleboro barracks responded to a five car crash on Route 24 South at exit 13B in Raynham.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Walter Foley indicates that 40-year-old Lori Wagner of Marion was traveling on Route 24 South in the left travel lane in an ambulance when she rear-ended a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup operated by 55-year-old Alan Hunter of Portsmouth, RI. This collision set off a change reaction of rear-end collisions, involving vehicles ahead of the pickup who were stopped in traffic in the left travel lane. The Dodge rear-ended a 1996 Honda Accord operated by 62-year-old Michael Leary of Fall River, who rear-ended a 1993 Ford Ranger operated by 39-year-old Frederick Peeler of Berkley, who rear-ended a 2003 Toyota Tacoma operated by 58-year-old James Maling of Tiverton, RI.

Wager, her 29-year-old female passenger, and Peeler were all transported to Morton Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Leary and his 60-year-old male passenger were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Maling and Hunter were uninjured in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. Raynham Police, Raynham Fire and EMS and Bridgewater Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

The left travel lane on Route 24 South was closed for about 20 minutes.
